Job Description - Bookkeeper

Status: Nonexempt hourly part time (10-15 hours with potential to increase)

Location: Remote

Reports to: Account Manager

Job Summary

The Bookkeeper will support both the overall business and specific clients through maintenance of

financial records, preparing reports, and updating financial information under the supervision of the


Job Responsibilities

 Keeping financial records up-to-date

 Processing business transactions

 Following accounting best practices

 Fact-checking invoices for payment and processing

 Maintaining the general ledger

 Recording journal entries

 Monitoring vendor statements, wire transfer requests, and other transactions

 Assisting with audits, forecasts, and other fiscal planning

 Posting customer checks, vendor payments, and ACH payments

 Correcting and modifying inaccurate files and records

 Assisting in account analysis and account coding

 Reconciling account balances

 Preparing annual 1099s

 Communicating with clients via phone, email, and video conferencing

 Assisting other bookkeepers, account managers and CEO

 Other administrative tasks as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications

 Self-motivated and self-directed

 Accurate and precise attention to detail

 Strong written and verbal communication skills

 Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize

 Ability to multi-task

 Data entry and word processing skills

 Assists team members when needed to accomplish team goals

 Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets, and financial reports

 Familiarity with payroll reporting

 Able to use 10-key by touch, with accurate data entry, and handle high volumes of daily


 Experience in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop required

 Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in

Accounting, or a related field preferred

 Excellent computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office preferred

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

 Remote position; employee must have access to internet (via password-protected wi-fi), smart

phone, and home workspace

 Must be able to clearly communicate with clients and vendors

 Requires manual dexterity for keyboard use

 Extended periods of computer use
