Dear MRT Community,

I hope this finds you staying cool in the midst of the heat. We are gearing up for a vibrant season ahead and look forward to sharing stories with you.

This week we announced five new play commissions. At MRT, the heart of what we do is new work. We need new stories and new forms of communication to lead us to new ideas. Vichet Chum, Kevin Kling, Melinda Lopez, Dael Orlandersmith, and Kalean Ung are the incredible writers that make up this dynamic cohort. We look forward to keeping you close on the progress with each play and launching those productions at Liberty Hall.

This week we have seen young actors for our iteration of A Christmas Carol. I have loved getting to know more families in our region and experiencing the massive talent of our local youth. We will announce casting for Carol soon, please stay tuned.

Finally, our preparation for The 39 Steps continues. This highly entertaining night of theatre will be a joyful opener to our 44th Season of serving the Merrimack region. I look forward to seeing you at the theatre.

In service,

Courtney Sale
