SERVICES:  Developing sports activities for athletes with special abilities

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:  Friends of Special Ed Kidz (FOSEK) is a non-profit organization based in Tewksbury, MA. Founded in 2009 to organize the administration of sports leagues for special needs and special abilities children in Tewksbury and surrounding communities in the Merrimack Valley. FOSEK has helped hundreds of children enjoy the challenge, camaraderie and excitement of participating in team sports. We seek to accommodate athletes of all abilities from five to twelve years old. Fun, exercise, friendship, and athletic development are our goals. Many children who participate in our leagues go on to join their more typically developing peers in town and school leagues.

LIST OF SERVICES:  TOPS Soccer in Spring and Fall, Little Reds Basketball

in the winter, STARZ Kickball in the Spring, Titan Tee Ball in the Fall, Drivers Golf in the Summer, as a pilot program in 2011.  All FOSEK programs are directed and run by volunteers, without whose help, these programs wouldn’t be as successful as they have been.

ORGANIZATION OPERATION:  FOSEK is dependent on donations of larger organizations to sustain itself.  Each program does have its own registration, but this only contributes to a small portion of the expenses needed to sufficiently run the organization.
