The Lowell Alliance for Families and Neighborhoods' mission is to support families and communities by advocating for and promoting empowerment, inclusion and diversity. We do this by building on the existing strengths of families and communities, and by facilitating partnerships with supportive resources and services.
The Lowell Alliance for Families and Neighborhoods is a part of Community Connections, a network of neighborhood-based, resident-driven coalitions across Massachusetts.
Most of our work focuses on community organizing, leadership development, and service connection. Some of our current groups/projects are:
* The Lowell Diaper Bank Collaborative, a group of Lowell service providers who have joined together ensure that local, low-income families have an adequate supply of diapers for their children though centralizing the fundraising, collection and distribution of free diapers through existing service providers and community organizations, including local daycare centers, social service organizations, neighborhood groups, and churches.
* The Cambodian Leadership and Support Group, The Latino Leadership and Support Group, and The Parent Leadership and Support Group - LAFN facilitates a weekly group where people can come together to discuss issues and plan activities and events.
* Community Gardening Group - a group of local residents who garden at Franklin Court.
We also partner with schools to help connect parents and teachers/school administrators. We host Back to School parties and we have helped start local PTOs.
